About Kaye Nolan

Melbourne psychologist Kaye Nolan

Kaye registered as a psychologist in 2005 and has worked with individuals in private, clinical, educational and corporate settings since. Beginning with a career in education, government, management, and then career development, she decided that Psychology was the ‘unfinished business’ she needed to complete and made the mid-life transition to help others on a deeper level.

Her abiding interests have always been identity and ego development, improving self-esteem, communication and assertiveness and personal growth through couples counselling.

To this end she has specialized training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Couple Therapy (Gottman Level 3), Clinical Hypnosis, EMDR, Schema Therapy and Chair Work.

Kaye is also AHPRA Registered Supervisor of other psychologists.

Career Development has also been a lifelong interest for Kaye and she is a qualified and experienced Career Development Practitioner. In this capacity she assists those seeking vocational direction and finding meaning through their work and their life overall.

Kaye’s approach

Kaye is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and uses CBT as the basis of her work. This means that she works towards identifying any self-limiting beliefs and behaviors that hold us back and then works towards developing more helpful thinking skills and actions to free us up to lead more fulfilling lives. In addition, she also uses a variety of tailored approaches such as exploration of life patterns and schemas, emotionally focused therapy, visualization, chair work and, most recently, bibliotherapy.

She works to provide her clients with an approach that is non-judgmental, warm and caring, while at the same time being open and honest with her clients.

Most of the work that her clients do is between sessions as they reflect on new ideas and experiment with different ways of doing things. In this way she guides and coaches her clients to work with their existing strengths and inner wisdom to build alife and relationships that align with their identity and values.
